Successful Strategies for Digital Transformation

Posted on November 6, 2017
Have your digital transformation efforts failed? It’s critical to build a solid strategy first.

Have your digital transformation efforts failed? It’s critical to build a solid strategy first.Does your organization have the right culture for a successful digital transformation? It starts with leadership guiding the way by example. Most chief information officers looking into adopting digital processes must have a direct and correct vision for the future, and many fail to start with this important step.

According to Bain & Company, only four percent of businesses are bringing the right people on board with the best tools and data to make their digital transformation a success. However, many are just looking at the latest technology as the end goal without developing a comprehensive strategy.

Developing the Strategy

It’s about more than finding the latest technology in which to invest. The entire business model must be reviewed before a single dollar goes into anything. Vendors are building vastly different solutions, which means you have to compare your business model against each to be sure you’re jumping in with the right technology.

Your strategy will be the foundation that guides you through your digital transformation, and this involves putting the right players in the right places to ease it along gracefully.

Culture Is Key

Company culture begins with leadership doing more than talking the talk. Change isn’t easy, but if leaders hold on to old business practices while trying to implement change for the company, there will be no buy-in.

Your company culture has to exude a willingness to adopt digital practices. Your focus should be on leaner projects that involve making interactions with customers faster and easier. This is what digital transformation is all about.

Finding Leadership for Transformation

Everyone at the top of the leadership chain — including the chief executive officer, chief marketing officer, chief information officer, and others — needs to own the process of digital transformation.

However, there also has to be a lead person to take control of the process and ensure everyone is on board and working under the same strategy with common goals in mind. This often falls to the chief marketing officer, who has great knowledge of digital processes both external and internal.

At AMD Technology, our goal has always been to make sure the technology our clients adopt is going to fit their business. We can assist in guiding you through your digital transformation, clear up some of the fog involved in investigating cloud-based solutions, and deliver enterprise-grade communication services.
