Digital Transformation Requires a Focus on the Digital Consumer

Posted on January 9, 2018
Technological advancements are important, but so is customer-centric service.

Technological advancements are important, but so is customer-centric service. If you’re looking for a model around which to shape your digital transformation, there are many choices to use as a guide. The best way to begin, however, is by looking at which customer service changes you can make.

Some may suggest you begin with the end goal in mind. That’s generally a good strategy for any business process, but it is also key to include small goals that come far before the end goal. It’s also important to remember that technology isn’t the only critical aspect of a digital transformation.

Going Customer-Centric
If you’re looking to get ahead of your competitors, do what they’re not doing. Despite a continuing conversation about the importance of being customer-centric, not many businesses actually do anything to understand what’s going on with their digital consumers.

Make improvements by thinking from the consumer’s perspective, and then apply what you learn to improve your digital relationship with them. As the world becomes more and more digital, it’s going to be imperative to focus on the needs of the digital consumer.

Transforming at the Human Level
Technology weighs heavily on digital transformation processes, but if all you’re focusing on is the tech, you’re missing out on another huge component: the people. Continuing the education of the workforce at a consistent level is what will keep them in tune with the tech you’re bringing in.

Teach your workforce not to fear new processes – they should embrace them and use them to their advantage and to the advantage of the company.

The Evolution of the Team
As you determine how your target market wants to be serviced, form teams that can work toward those demands. In some cases, these will already be developed to manage such goals. In other cases, new teams will need to be structured in such a way as to make that happen. With digital transformation, that could mean building new apps or services.

Don’t Shy Away from Change
If you’re not an agent for change, you’re an agent for mediocrity. If you don’t have management that is ready and willing to accept new digital processes to evolve the business, it’s time to fill those roles with different people.

Look for early adopters who will lead the way and inspire others to not only accept change, but to establish goals that will make digital transformation a seamless process.

At AMD Technology, we have the tools to assist you in a seamless digital transformation. We are the trusted technology advisor that will be loyal to you. Contact us today to learn more about how we can assist.
